Starting in 1995, volunteers from the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium have adopted a two mile stretch of Butler Street that extends from the RD Fleming Bridge northwards to slightly beyond the Highland Park Bridge.  The mess left behind by careless drivers, such as cigarette butts, pop bottles, and food wrappers, fills approximately 50 trash bags each and every time we clean the highway.  By cleaning this highway just two times a year, we remove approximately 1.25 tons of trash!
