Ways of Giving
Outright gifts of cash are deductible for income purposes to the full extent allowed by law, and may be made by cash, check, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express). Credit card gifts may be monthly, quarterly, or annual payments. Charges are processed upon receipt. Recurring charges are processed on the 1st and 15th of each month. Pledge payments also may be arranged. To take advantage of recurring credit card charges, please call the Development Office at 412-365-2542.
Or, stock gifts may be made and handled by wire transfer, hand delivery, or mail. Gifts of qualified assets, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or other appreciated long-term properties, that have been held for at least one year and one day offer a two-fold savings. Donors avoid paying capital gains on the increased value of the stock while receiving a tax deduction for the average value of the stock on the date of the transfer.
Electronic transfer is the safest and fastest way to give stock to the Zoo. In addition to being convenient, the speed of this type of transfer may maximize market fluctuations, thus allowing you to maximize your gift to the Zoo.
