Overnights

Fun at the Zoo doesn't have to end when the sun goes down. Overnights are an exciting new way to experience the animal kingdom. Whether you're part of a Scout group, or a family looking for a wild night, there are plenty of overnight opportunities from which you can choose. If you have questions about any of the available overnights, please contact the Education Reservations department at 412-365-2528 or learn@pittsburghzoo.org. All currently available overnights are scheduled through August 2014.

 

  • Families - Shark Week Overnight
    • 13_SleepingWithTheSharks_LogoFriday, August 15 - Saturday, August 16
      Ages 6-12 with an adult - This overnight is sold out, but may be offered again in the future. Please check back after August 2014 for additional dates.

      Join our shark experts for this unique overnight experience. Participants will learn all about these deep-sea predators and how to separate shark facts from fiction. For details about this overnight, please download our Shark Week overnight frequently asked questions PDF.

      Registration for Members is $60, which includes one adult and one child (each additional person is $30). Non-member registration is $80 and includes one adult and one child (each additional person is $40). Please note, if you are a member you must sign in using the tab in the upper right-hand corner of the page after you click the "register online" button in order to receive your member discount.

  • Scouts - Krazy Kritters Overnight
    • krazykrittersA turtle’s shell, a sea lion’s whiskers, and your thumb have something in common: they are all types of adaptations. Join us for an exciting evening to discover more unique types of adaptations and how animals use them to survive.       The following items are included in the Krazy Kritters overnight:

      •Behind-the-scenes visit in the kangaroos, sea lions, or domestic animals area (weather permitting)
      •Live animal visit with your group?
      •Night-time scavenger hunt in Kids Kingdom
      •Late night pizza snack
      •Craft - pillowcase souvenir
      •Sleep in the Worlds of Discovery Building
      •Continental breakfast
      •Next day's admission to the Zoo (only good for that day regardless of weather) 
      •Minimum of 24, maximum of 40 spaces available unless otherwise noted

      Saturday, June 21 - 12 spaces available for a Junior Girl Scout group
      Saturday, July 5
      Friday, July 18 - 13 spaces available for a Brownie group
      Saturday, August 2
      Friday, August 15 - 16 spaces available for a Brownie group
      Saturday, August 16 - 16 spaces available for a Brownie group
      Saturday, August 23 - 16 spaces available for a Cub Scout group
      Friday, August 29



      This overnight experience is designed for Scout groups in grades 1-6, but is best suited for Scout groups in grades 1-4. Your overnight will take place from 6 p.m until 9 a.m. the following morning. You must have a minimum of 24 people (children and/or adults) to book a date exclusive to your group. If you have less than 24 people, your group will be combined with another similar group.

      Overnights are $36 per person, children or adults. There is no member discount for Scout overnights. To book this overnight, you will need to submit an overnight reservation form. Please contact the Education Reservations department at 412-365-2528 or learn@pittsburghzoo.org to book your overnight once your form has been completed. Sorry, we currently do not offer online registration for Scout overnights.

  • Scouts - ZSI: Zoo Scene Investigation Overnight
    • zsiParticipants will examine the scene of the crime as they work together to solve a Zoo mystery. We will break out the magnifying glasses, follow footprints, and interview a couple of key suspects in this zany and fun search for the truth.       The following items are included in the ZSI overnight:

      •Behind-the-scenes visit (usually large cats, subject to change)
      •Live animal visit
      •Night-time scavenger hunt in African Savanna and Asian Forest
      •Late night pizza snack
      •Craft - pillowcase souvenir
      •Sleep in the Education Complex
      •Continental breakfast
      •Next day's admission to the Zoo (only good for that day regardless of weather)
      •Minimum of 24, maximum of 60 spaces available unless otherwise noted


      Dates available through August 2014:

      Saturday, July 5 - 20 spaces available for a Girl Scout group



      This overnight experience is designed for Scout groups in grades 1-6 and will be a wonderful combination of fun, adventure and learning. Your overnight will take place from 6 p.m until 9 a.m. the following morning. You must have a minimum of 24 people (children and/or adults) to book a date exclusive to your group. If you have less than 24 people, your group will be combined with another similar group.

      Overnights are $36 per person, children or adults. There is no member discount for Scout overnights. To book this overnight, you will need to submit an overnight reservation form.
