Route 28 Construction Alert

On June 8th PennDOT began construction on Route 28 North. The construction project, which will continue through late October, has rerouted Route 28 North, with all Northbound traffic being detoured across the 62nd Street Bridge (R.D. Fleming Bridge) and onto Butler Street, then over the Allegheny River via the Highland Park Bridge and back onto 28 North.

The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium has worked tirelessly with PennDOT, the City of Pittsburgh, Councilman Patrick Dowd's office, and local residents' groups to make this traffic change go as smoothly as possible.

Since Zoo visitors travel to the Zoo during off-peak hours, they should not experience any delays.

We suggest that you please be aware of this detour and plan your trip to the Zoo accordingly.
